2010-2011 Schedule
We are working to finalize our new schedule and want your help. You get to choose three of this year's selections! Please take a few minutes to fill out our short survey by July 30th.

Here is the current lineup:

Wednesday, October 13
Kimerly Rorschach, Mary D.B.T. and James H. Semans Director, the Nasher Museum of Art, on The Children’s Book by A.S. Byatt

Wednesday, November 17
Thomas Katsouleas, Dean, Pratt School of Engineering, will discuss one of three books to be selected by registered participants:

  • Systems of Survival: A Dialogue on the Moral Foundations of Commerce and Politics by Jane Jacobs
  • Collapse: How Societies Choose to Fall or Succeed by Jared Diamond
  • The Essential Engineer: Why Science Alone Will Not Solve Our Global Problems by Henry Petroski

Our spring schedule dates will be finalized in August when we know the men’s basketball schedule. The selectors and their selections are:

January
Reynolds Price, James B. Duke Professor of English, on Ninety-two in the Shade by Thomas McGuane (Vintage Paperback edition)

February
William H. Chafe, Alice Mary Baldwin Professor of History, will discuss one of three books to be selected by participants:

  • The Plague by Albert Camus
  • The Souls of Black Folk by W.E. B. DuBois
  • Black Boy by Richard Wright

March
Oscar Hijuelos, Professor of the Practice, English, on The Age of Wonder: The Romantic Generation and the Discover of the Beauty and Terror of Science by Richard Holmes

April
Sue Wasiolek, Assistant Vice President, Student Affairs, will discuss one of three books to be selected by participants:

  • To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee
  • Black Like Me by John Howard Griffin
  • Franny and Zooey by J.D. Salinger
